Now an established member of the ITTF Junior Circuit, the tournament appears at what is the traditional start of the European table tennis season, in many ways for those involved in the continent’s club competitions, it a perfect way to prepare for the coming battles.
Furthermore, Funchal equals excellence; the island of Madeira may be rich in wild life and magnificent scenery. It is also rich in table tennis.
Marcos Freitas, now an established senior player of note is a product of the island’s well organized coaching and competition scheme.
