Central American Junior and Cadet Championships

Julio Calderon captured the Boys’ singles crown with the counterpart female title going the way of Guatemala’s Mabelyn Enriquez.
Junior Boys’ Singles
’s Alberto Romo in the quarterfinals before inflicting a semi-final victory over Miguel Lara, also from Mexico; the latter having caused an upset by beating Guatemala’s Allan Guttierez, the no.2 seed, in the round of the last eight.
At the final hurdle, Henriquez continued his liking for Mexican players; he defeated Jorge Navarro in six games to claim gold.
One round earlier, Navarro had beaten El Savador’s Luis Mejia, the quarterfinal winner against compatriot and top seed Edliberto Merino.
Junior Girls’ Singles
’Singles competition it was the no.2 seed who finished in top spot.
Mexico’s Nancy Sanchez beat the Guatemalans Eva Godoy and Hellen Salazar to book her place in the final where she overcame Andrea Herrera of Honduras, the no.3 seed.
At the semi-final stage, Herrera had defeated El Salvador’s Marha Morales, the no.1 seed.
Cadet Boys’ Singles
El Salvador’s Julio Calderon beat Andrée Velasquez of Honduras at the quarterfinal stage before ousting colleague to win the title; at the penultimate stage he defeated Carlos Umanzor before clinching the top prize with victory over Erik Aviles.
Cadet Girls’ Singles
In the counterpart Girl’s Singles competition, Guatemala’s Mabelyn Enriquez defeated El Salvador’s Mariela Monge in the quarterfinals before emulating the efforts of Julio Calderon by overcoming compatriots.
In the semi-finals she overcame Analdy Lopez and in the final Andrea Montufar.
